On You is not a ninth section. It is a group inside Wallet & Docs on Pack — passport, wallet, keys, the things that travel in a pocket rather than a bag — and on Travel it is lifted out and shown as a section of its own, at the top of the list. One set of items, two presentations.

What they are

Eight sections are added to every trip automatically and never appear in the section picker. You didn't choose them and you can't add them, because they're already there.

Most are task checklists rather than containers of physical objects — Travel Prep, Departure Sequence, Unpacking. Nobody needs to confirm at trip-creation time that "Unpacking" is coming, because there's nothing in it to review.

They can be archived

Despite an older comment in the source saying otherwise, core sections can be archived like any other. That was ruled explicitly on 2026-09-02. If you don't want Evening Preparations on your trips, archive it.

The known cost

The invisibility is a deliberate trade-off, and it has one genuinely awkward case.

Wallet & Docs is the first core section that holds physical objects — passport, cards, keys — on the Pack phase. It inherited invisibility from a category where invisibility made sense for a different reason: the other ten are task lists. So a user builds a trip and never gets confirmation that the section holding their passport is coming.

A fix is designed but not built: show it at the foot of the Essentials list at trip creation with a plain checkmark rather than the tappable circle the deselectable Essentials use — present and confirmed, without implying it can be unchecked from there.

This page states the cost rather than defending the decision, because the decision is genuinely mixed and a reference page that only lists upsides isn't reference.

Distinct from core sections. 5 Essentials are pre-ticked when you make a trip, and you can untick them:

Clothes · Personal Items · Toiletries · Wallet & Docs · Travel Essentials

None of the five carries relevance tags, so all five pre-tick on every trip.
